Q: What are LED modules and how do they differ from traditional LED strip lights?
LED modules are compact, integrated units containing multiple LEDs on a single board whereas LED strip lights consist of a long strip with LEDs spaced closely together. The main difference lies in their form factor and application. LED modules are often used for focused lighting in specific areas, offering more concentrated illumination, while LED strip lights are versatile and flexible, commonly used for indirect lighting and decorative purposes along surfaces and contours. Both LED modules and LED strip lights share the benefits of energy efficiency, longer lifespan, and the ability to emit different colors and color temperatures. LED modules are great for signage projects or spaces that require adjusting the lighting to different shapes in which traditional LED strip lights are not able to be shaped or bent.
Q: Can I use LED modules for outdoor applications?
Yes, our LED modules are designed for outdoor use. Our RGB sign modules are IP65-rated which means they are resistant to water and dust making them suitable for outdoor signage, architectural lighting, and landscape illumination, among other applications. Learn more about IP ratings.
Q: How do I install LED modules?
Our LED sign modules can be installed using the adhesive tape on the back of each module as well as screws to secure the modules in place for a long lasting installation. Keep in mind the screws are not included.
Q: Can the sign modules be cut?
Yes. Using appropriate tools such as scissors or a utility knife, you can cut between the wires that connect two sign modules together, allowing for easy customization to fit specific spaces or shapes.
Q: Do I need a controller when using RGB LED modules?
Yes, in order to take full advantage of the color changing capabilities of our RGB LED sign modules, an RGB controller will be required with your installation. We offer different types of RGB controllers that can work depending on what your vision for the project is, from user-friendly RF remote controls and smart controllers to both pre-programmed and proggrammable DMX controllers.
