How to make the LED (baby) LED light suit with LED strip lights:

Note: This can be done with LED Rope lights or LED strip lights. The LED strips above are FAR brighter than the LED rope. See the difference here!

  1. Measure the length of lights you will need. (Head, legs, torso, arms).
  2. Choose which color and brightness you want. The above video is using our entry level Colorbright series and as you can see, it is EXTREMELY bright. (We have created the brightest strips on the market). There are other much brighter LED options that are much brighter but use more electricity.
  3. Calculate the total feet used with the appropriate watts per foot. Example, in the above suit, we used 15 feet @ 3w/ft. Total 48W.
  4. Cut the strip along the cut lines to length desired. The strip comes with a 3m adhesive on the back.
  5. Solder wires or use solderless connectors to make the connections. (more info on link)
  6. Use a 12v battery pack to power the lights. You can hook it up to a battery pack, the ones with 8 AA batteries. You can get it off ebay or amazon with fast shipping. Use rechargeable batteries so you do not waste them.

EXAMPLE: A young child may use 6 feet of LED strip lights. This will be 18 watts of electricity. 12v battery pack AA led stickman

Here is an example battery pack. However, they do not provide much power.

Bear with me, things may get technical : 12V and 18 watts means it needs 1.5 amps to power the 6ft. The average heavy duty alkaline battery (Duracell, Energizer, etc) will provide about 2000 mAh. 2000 mAh = 2 amp hours. Which means for 1 hour, it can power about 2 amps. Or for 2 hours, it can power about 1 amp.

For this application, you can run the lights roughly 1.5 hours off this battery pack.

More than likely, you will be using more than six feet. So the options are:

1. Use multiple battery packs
2. Carry extra batteries

Looks like for 12 -18 feet it would last an hour on one battery pack... I would get a few packs if I were you.

Rechargeable batteries are a must, so you will not be wasting a lot of batteries.
