$109.00

outdoor IP65 rated color changing LED strip lights

Outdoor (IP65) ColorBright™️ RGB 150 Color Changing LED Strip Light

Introduction:

The Outdoor ColorBright™ Color Changing 150 LED strip light is a reel of linear color changing LED chips mounted on a flexible strip of printed circuit board (PCB) with a strong adhesive backing. To achieve weather protection, the strips are enveloped in a silicone plastic casing. Sometimes referred to as "color changing LED tape lights," the flexible design of LED strips means the lights can be installed in basically any space you can imagine. With these strips you can change the lights to nearly any color combination for a wide range of creative options. These lights work perfectly for outdoor installations as well as indoor spaces such as aquariums or in bathrooms that may be exposed to water.

The IP65 rating means that the LED strip lights are able to withstand jets and splashes of water from all sides. It cannot be submerged in water, but it will withstand the elements. We also recommend outdoor lights for use indoors in high splash areas or if you're looking for a strip that is easier to clean.

Outdoor IP65 ColorBright™ RGB 150 Color Changing LED strip light FAQ

Q: What are the top 4 comparing factors to look for before purchasing LED strip lights?

1. Make sure you know the requirements for your project, then when looking at options, compare lumen output, CCT, and CRI.
2. Compare LED strip size and number of chips on the reel.
3. Understand the wattage and voltage that the LED strip light uses.
4. Make sure that the products have verifiable quality.

Q :What is the importance of UL Listed lighting?

UL is an acronym for the Underwriters Laboratories. They are an independent product safety certification organization. A good summary used by UL is, "a not-for-profit organization dedicated to public safety." This means you can install these LEDs in commercial spaces, industrial applications, and in your home with peace of mind.

Q: How do I install RGB color changing LED strip lights?

Learn the basics of installing RGB LED strip lighting under counters, connecting them to the controller, mounting and controlling them, here. Consult our design team for extra assistance.

Q: Do you sell your outdoor rated lights by the foot?

No, we do not. We stock out IP65 outdoor rated lights in 8’ or 16’ lengths. For certain projects, we may be able to produce special lengths for you. Please let us know your requirements. IP68 waterproof strips are available in 16’ lengths that may be special ordered and subject to a one month manufacturing lead time.

Q: What are the recommendations on adhering outdoor-rated strip lights?

All of our outdoor-rated lights come with mounting brackets. The strip also has a 3M adhesive on the back. We recommend using both for the most secure installation. They can also be installed within a mounting channel.

Q: What does IP mean? What is the difference between IP65 and IP68?

This is a rating system that defines the ability of a product to be able to work in different environments. IP is an acronym "Ingress Protection". It is a measurement of the protection an item will have against solid objects (dust, sand, dirt, etc.) and liquids.

An IP rating is comprised of 2 numbers. The first number refers to the protection against solid objects (dust, etc) and the second number refers to protection against liquids. Here is a complete article about IP ratings.

Q: Can I cut reels that are outdoor rated IP65?

Yes. Be sure to reseal the strip light each time it’s cut to prevent water damage.

Q: How flexible are these outdoor strips?

The IP65 is flexible like a measuring tape. Because we use a soft silicone sleeve to make the strip water resistant, it is still very flexible.

Q: How do I install more than one RGB LED strip light to a controller?

You can use one controller to control multiple runs of the RGB strip lights. This can be achieved by stripping the ends of the wires from multiple runs and connecting them together before inserting them into the RGB controller. Two important things to note here. Make sure you are not exceeding the amperage / wattage maximum of the controller when you are installing multiple runs. Also, if you are using solderless connectors, make sure that the markings on the strip are used as the guides for polarity and not just the colors of the wire. The colors associated with the polarity markings will change depending on the side of the strip the connector is attached to. Click here for a detailed installation guide. Consult our design team for extra assistance.

Q: Which Power Supply do I need for my (x) feet of LEDs?

The length of LED strip lights of your project will determine the size of the power supply you need. View our power supply chart to find the exact LED power supply you need.
- You will need a 24V power supply

-Desktop style plug-in power supplies

Hardwired LED power supplies

Q: What is a 5050 SMD LED chip?

5050 SMD (Surface Mounted Diode) represents the size of the LED chips on the strip. A 5050 SMD chip measures at 5.0mm x 5.0mm. Click here for more information on LED chip sizes.

Q: Can RGB chips be controlled independently?

These RGB strips cannot be controlled independently. You need to use individually-addressable LED chips which are normally found on digital strips. Please contact the design team for more assistance.

Q: Can I hard wire RGB strips into a wall dimmer?

The RGB strips are not compatible with conventional wall dimmers that are designed to be hard wired. We do sell a wireless wall dimmer for RGB lights that is easy to install and quite beautiful. Please contact the design team for design solutions.

Q: Can I cut the strips myself?

Yes, LED strips are made to be cut to your desired length. Using sharp scissors, you can cut the strip every few inches.

Q: What is the maximum run length of RGB 150 strip lights?

The maximum run length for this strip is 49' 2" (15 meters). Please contact our design team for help with larger projects.

Q: I am using RGB lighting and want to control them via a DMX controller – are your lights fully controllable?

Yes. Our lights work perfectly well with DMX systems. However, our strips are not individually-addressable. For example, if one chip displays red then all of the other chips will also show red. If you require chasing or independent-control then you will need to use a digital strip.

Q: What is the difference between RGB 150 and RGB 300?

The 150 or 300 directly correspond to the number of LED chips per reel. Twice the amount of light is emitted and double the amount of power is also required.

Q: Which power source do you need for my project?
